Self-Taught Visual Artist
Based in Amsterdam, Netherlands
Emily Brady is a self-taught visual artist from the United Kingdom. Her practice centres on freehand pencil drawings, with close attention to detail that captures atmosphere, essence and emotion. Through her paint work, Emily zooms out from such detailed execution to focus on playful, simple colour balance, whilst retaining strong light and dark values.
Emily observes the world through a sensitive lens, which presents itself in the precision of her execution and her ability to find beauty in simplicity. This results in recurrent themes of introspection, intimacy and identity. Her intention is to encourage viewers to see their own world sensitively and, in the exact moment of viewing, feel calm and intrigued.
Drawing inspiration from lived experience rather than formal training, Emily values the accessibility of her work as a means of making authentic connections. Her work has been exhibited in a number of inclusive spaces across Amsterdam, culminating in her 2025 self-curated exhibition ‘Gush; Intimacy through a Female Lens’ which brought together five women artists balancing creativity and ‘side hustle’.
